Liberty County is a county located in the U.S. state of Florida. Its county seat is Bristol. Liberty County is a prohibition or dry county. It is also the least populated county in Florida, largely because the Apalachicola National Forest occupies half the county. County was created in 1855 and was named for the American ideal, liberty. Liberty County has a total area of approximately 843 square miles of which 99% is land and 1% water. As of the 2000 census, there were 7,021 people, 2,222 households, and 1,553 families residing in Liberty County, FL.
